Darren Turner
Darren Turner has been a Staff Lead at PDS since May 2016. He grew up in Richmond, California, with two sisters, and after working at UPS, he earned a liberal arts degree from Contra Costa College. Best friends with Jarrod Allen, Darren was encouraged by him to explore a career at PDS. Originally planning to become a driver at UPS, Darren decided to try something new and hasn’t looked back since, finding joy in working with clients and helping them achieve happiness and independence.
Darren’s favorite activities at PDS include going on hikes with clients and taking JR and Berta out to lunch. He loves seeing clients enjoy their time and will do whatever it takes to make sure they’re happy. Darren is a calm, peaceful center in the middle of what can sometimes be a chaotic environment. He brings a sense of stability and acceptance that reverberates out into the space around him. Outside of work, Darren stays active by running, playing basketball, and playing the piano.
Darren believes the most rewarding part of his job is getting to know people who are different and learning from their unique perspectives. He finds it incredibly fulfilling to serve adults with disabilities, appreciating how awesome and inspiring they are.
