PDS Remote Services

People with Disabilities Succeeding (PDS) is all about "community" and during the pandemic, "community" was online!

Have you seen Good Morning Vietnam with Robin Williams? It’s about entertaining people during a difficult period, helping them feel less alone, and reminding them of home and happier times.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, PDS broadcasted ourselves and our support into the homes of our clients, who without us would have been lonely, confused and scared.

Zoom has become a permanent feature of our program.

Darren Turner, our extraordinary DJ, is always on Zoom, keeping the channel open for our clients who are housebound due to illness, surgeries or are undergoing chemotherapy etc.

Darren keeps our friends spirits up, playing videos about their favorite subjects, doing karaoke and social media.

PDS also Zooms into the Friend Zone, and to the various groups that are out and about in the community on picnics, or cooking.

Zoom provides PDS with a way for us all to check in with each other throughout the day including during Darren's broadcasts, like "Pep Talk" and "What’s Goin' On at PDS".

Routine is so important, especially for people with learning difficulties. Our Zoom activities are scheduled, consistent and predictable to lend structure and purpose to our lives during this confusing. Please see an example of our Remote Service Schedule here: Sample Zoom Schedule

PDS created some short videos to illustrate the types of online activities we offer. Give the videos a watch below:

PDS was featured in the Marin Independent Journal when we first created our Remote Service Program. Read that article here: Marin IJ Article
