Jacob Aranda

Jacob Aranda has been with PDS since September 2015, though his career in the field began in 2009 in Mendocino. A family man, Jacob grew up in Illinois as one of seven children, and after a life-changing accident, he spent some time living with his father. It was through his father’s gym friend, our client Kevin, that Jacob was introduced to PDS, eventually starting with just two hours a week working with clients like Alex. Over time, Jacob took on more and more responsibility, and he became a full-time staff member and eventually a Staff Lead. Despite occupying a leadership position, he still provides a certain amount of levity and goofiness that the clients really connect and respond to.

Jacob brings a unique skill set to PDS, having worked as a supervisor and caregiver, as well as a woodworker and carpenter prior to joining the team. His favorite parts of his job include problem-solving, ensuring everything runs smoothly, and providing emotional care for clients. He takes great pride in seeing clients gain independence, especially when they earn their own money and take pride in their achievements.

Outside of work, Jacob is passionate about music, woodworking, leather-working, axe throwing, and reading. His diverse hobbies reflect his creative and hands-on nature, which he brings to every aspect of his work. He’s also a professional musician who has released multiple albums, and performs worldwide. He often puts on concerts for the program, which are always a hit with the clients.

Here’s what some of the clients have to say about Jacob:

  • Brian: "Jacob’s been a friend for a long time. I like listening to his music. He’s always there when I need to talk, and he does great concerts. He always helps me when I’m down or depressed.”

  • Mike Mauro: "I interviewed him at the old office. It went good. Jacob’s hilarious. He’s very funny, sometimes he and I would joke about an old newscaster. He’s fun to joke around with. I like his music.”
