PDS serves an absolutely wonderful client named Erik P. Erik acts as a mentor for all the other PDS clients and he is an inspiration to us all.
Erik has two jobs. He works at WildCare feeding and caring for injured animals. He also works at Youth in Arts doing clerical work and hands on service for kids in an art program designed to integrate kids with and without disabilities. He is paid for his work through Bay Area Youth Agency Consortium (BAYAC) which is a division of Americorps. Americorps is the domestic version of the Peace Corps and BAYAC is for people who are working with youth. BAYAC/Americorps provides training and support to Erik throughout his two year placement.
Erik, has an AA degree in Natural Resource Management-and another in Recreation. He is totally into nature and he environment. He also enjoys trains and is a natural wizard with geography and can tell you how to get anywhere you need to go. Anyone who knows Erik is familiar with his practical jokes, and his laid back, warm personality.
Erik has received an award for his advocacy efforts on behalf of people with disabilities from Area Board 5 and he is an active member of a local Lion's club.
